On November 22nd, 2010 Vektroid released “Telnet Erotika”, a 5 song EP of sampled electronic music (influenced by OPN's eccojams) but with added layers of synths and drums. This first EP is a crucial link between the early Vaporwave progenitors..
On November 22nd, 2010 Vektroid released “Telnet Erotika” as a 5 song EP that, on its original Bandcamp page, was dedicated to Oneohtrixpoint Never. It is a work of sampled electronic music influenced by eccojams but with added layers of synths and drums.
While the release would later be expanded upon and re-released in 2017 as Telnet Complete, this first EP is a crucial link between the early Vaporwave progenitors: Daniel Lopatin (OPN), and Vektroid aka Macintosh Plus, as well as influencing the future work of many different producers including second wave artists like luxury elite and members of SPF420. While many think of Vaporwave as a purely sample based genre, this EP showcases imaginative Vaportrap style production and sonic choices that are similar to the NUWRLD subgenre that DDS would later create... Check out Episode 12 for the deep dive!
